                                             Established in 1954, Government Higher Secondary School, Kalaktang is managed by the Department of Education, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. It is located in the heart of Kalaktang Town in Kalaktang Administrative Block of West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. The school consists of Grades from Class 6 to Class 12. English is the medium of instruction in this school. The school is approachable by all-weather road. In this school, the academic session starts in April. The school has 4 blocks of buildings on the same campus. The school has 26 classrooms for instructional purposes and 3 other rooms for other activities. All classrooms are in good condition. The school also has separate rooms for Principal , Vice-Principal and teaching staff. There are 2 washrooms for boys and girls separately and 2 washrooms for faculty members - male and female. The school has proper electricity and water connections. It also has an RO purifier for students, staffs as Safe drinking water facilities. The school has 18 computers for teaching and learning purposes. The school has a library containing 750 books in English, Hindi. The school provides mid-day meals. The school also has hostel facilities for both girls and boys with capacities up to 200 students altogether. t In addition to normal compulsory courses, the school provides vocational courses like 402- Information Technology, 406- Introduction to Tourism in class IX and X and 802- Information Technology, 806- Tourism in Classes XI and XII. There are two streams - Science and Humanities - in classes XI and XII. A big auditorium is there at School campus where general meetings, and cocurricular activities like yoga, literary and cultural competition, art-drawing competitions, self defence training for girls indoor games like badminton, aainball are organised from time to time. To support daily teaching - learning processes, the school makes use of personal computers, smart class devices and teaching aids like charts, maps, globes etc.
